Greg Padgett

Greg Padgett serves as Director of Marketing and Community Engagement and leads I-DIEM’s HERricane Project in collaboration with Farmers Insurance and local jurisdictions around the U.S. He also serves as the producer for Amplify This, I-DIEM’s podcast series. He is a seasoned and award-winning journalist, storyteller, strategic communications consultant, emergency manager, and meteorologist. His broadcasting career included positions with the Weather Channel, and TV stations in Augusta, West Palm Beach, Norfolk, Savannah, and Knoxville.

In the late 90’s he uncovered severe weather preparedness deficiencies in the predominantly minority school districts of Hampton Roads in Southeast Virginia. He collaborated with the state Office of Emergency Management and the local National Weather Service to create the State’s first annual Tornado Drill.

In 2000 he received the National Weather Association’s (NWA) National Broadcaster of the Year Award for his efforts to improve school safety in multiple states including Georgia, Virginia, and Florida. He served as School Safety Coordinator and State Natural Hazards Program Manager for the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, and as FEMA external affairs and preparedness consultant with several firms including IEM, Tetra Tech, ICF, and Tidal Basin Group. He currently provides strategic communications and media relations support for Tidal Basin and is the host and producer of the Disaster Recovery Roundtable podcast. He is the volunteer Chair of the Media and Public Education Planning Committee, and Non-Profit Planning Committee for the National Hurricane Conference.
