Christopher A. Walker

President of Emergency Services

Principal and Subject Matter Expert, Christopher Walker, LANG (ret.), MSEM, CEM, is President of Merit’s Emergency Services Division, offering 35 years of emergency response and program management experience from military and civilian careers.

He has held numerous leadership roles involved with the preparing for, responding to and recovering from almost every federally declared disasters to hit the US in the past 17 years. Mr. Walker has worked successfully with agencies at every level of government, leading successful emergency response, recovery, and homeland security programs at the federal level (Federal Emergency Management Association, US Army Corps of Engineers); state level (Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana); and regional/municipal level (New York City, Chambers County Texas).

Earlier in his career, Mr. Walker was an enlisted member of the U.S. Air Force where he served as a World Wide Airborne Command Post electronics technician for the EC135 and E4B (Looking Glass) aircraft. After active-duty service, he served as a satellite communications network technician and non-commissioned officer for the North Carolina Air National Guard. In 1991, Mr. Walker was commissioned as an officer in the Louisiana Air National Guard. Until retirement in June of 2006, he performed duties as an F 15 Fighter aircraft maintenance, communications, and logistics officer, leading several deployments into active theatres of operations. Mr. Walker has maintained a top-secret clearance from 1986 through January of 2022.
